Silicon Valley is home to hundreds of robotics and AI companies, but here are nine innovators worth watching in autonomous vehicles, dexterous manipulation, and more.

In the global robotics ecosystem, as well as in the wider high-tech world, Silicon Valley is known as a center for AI research and development, venture capital, and innovation. Futurology recently recognized the “101 Most Innovative Palo Alto-Based Artificial Intelligence Companies.” Among them were startups such as RIOS Corp., which is developing automation for tasks that typically require human-level dexterity.

“We're honored to be recognized,” stated Kelly Kamlanger, senior director of marketing at RIOS. “Both robotics and AI are extremely competitive as well as collaborative, and it's great to be registered among one's peers.”

These startups and companies are taking a variety of approaches to innovating the artificial intelligence industry, but are all exceptional companies well worth a follow,” said Futurology. It selected startups and established companies based on their innovativeness, growth, management and strategies, and societal impact.

The publication relied on information from Crunchbase and SemRush. Crunchbase counts more than 1,000 AI companies in Silicon Valley, but many cover business process automation and other applications not connected to robots, drones, or autonomous vehicles.

Silicon Valley is home to more than 325 robotics startups, according to Silicon Valley Robotics, making it one of the largest robotics hubs in the world. The community has raised more than $9 billion in equity funding over the past eight years, with 656 robotics investors, said the organization.
