Applied Manufacturing Technologies plans to showcase its new system designed for de-layering and tote filling at Automate 2022.

Automation systems integrator Applied Manufacturing Technologies this week announced it will unveil its new robotic decanting technology it developed in partnership with 3D machine vision automation company Liberty Reach at the Automate 2022 trade show next month.

Using a FANUC CRX-10iA collaborative robot and Schmalz FXCB vacuum gripping system, the Orion, Mich.-based company’s robotic cell will show solution planning for de-layering and tote filling. It uses defined box and tote parameters to optimize the tote fill and solve the entire layer.

The Schmalz FXCB gripping system integrates a vacuum generator, flow resistors, and digital pressure switch into a compact and lightweight design.

Liberty Reach will showcase how its vision software can find the best fit and use algorithms to optimize the pick solution for reduced cycle time overall, according to Applied Manufacturing Technologies (AMT). An optimized cycle includes picking multiple cases to load the tote. If a multi-pick solution is not available, the algorithm will select the next best position to allow the robot to pick a case.

Terry Meister, controls manager at AMT, and Craig Salvalaggio, chief operating officer at AMT, said the company is excited to unveil its “never been seen technology.”

Automate to be held in Detroit

Automate will be held at the Huntington Place Convention Center in Detroit from June 6 to June 9. AMT will be exhibiting at Booth 1210.

The Association for Advanced Automation (A3) puts on the event. This is the first time in the past two decades that the show will be in Detroit instead of Chicago, Jeff Burnstein, president of A3, told Robotics 24/7.

The exhibition hosts more than 500 leading global automation providers on the show floor. The four-day event will also feature educational sessions with eight training tracks for attendees with varying interests and levels of experience.

Salvalaggio will host two presentations at the conference. AMT founder and CEO Michael P. Jacobs will be presented with the Joseph F. Engelberger Robotics Award for Leadership at an awards dinner and ceremony on Wednesday, June 8.

AMT has over 30 years of experience

Founded in 1989, Applied Manufacturing Technologies said it is an industry leader in automated end-of-line solutions, complex material handling systems, and engineering support globally.

The company said it offers full-service systems integration and support covering turnkey industrial controls, robotic programming, and automation consulting.
