Administrative Resource Options Inc., or ARO, and CleanRobotics today announced that they have partnered to provide support for the nationwide rollout CleanRobotics' fleet of recycling robots. TrashBot Zero is designed to identify and sort waste items at the time of disposal, as well as to provide data and insights.

“We’re incredibly enthusiastic to support CleanRobotics,” stated Jeff Pittelkow, managing director of robotics at ARO. “Trashbot Zero is a game-changing device that will not only help businesses and large venues with their recycling efforts, but [it] will also have a measurable impact on reducing recyclable waste from landfills.”

“In a world of robotics designed to make life better, Trashbot Zero is designed to make the planet better,” he added. “We’re happy to support CleanRobotics and to ensure a fast and successful rollout, with ongoing support of their devices.”

ARO supports daily field operations and the management of robots, drones, and automation. The Chicago-based company said it offers services including implementation, 24/7 remote monitoring, robotic fleet management, account management, break/fix support, dedicated personnel, and complete robot lifecycle management.

While concerns rise about global climate change and sustainability, only about 6% of U.S. plastics are recycled, according to the National Environment Agency of the government of Singapore.

By sorting waste accurately at the source, recyclables and other recoverable materials can be more effectively diverted from landfills, said CleanRobotics. The Pittsburgh-based company said its mission is to ensure the effectiveness of recycling programs at high-traffic facilities while securing the return on investment (ROI) of such programs.

Founded in 2015, CleanRobotics said it has developed technologies to “revolutionize waste and resource recovery” and solve “persistent environmental problems.”

The company combines robotics, artificial intelligence, computer vision, and machine learning to aid recycling programs and the circular economy.

CleanRobotics claimed that its flagship product, TrashBot, can sort waste items at the time of disposal and eliminate human error. In addition, the data provided by TrashBot can empower decision-making, making it useful for high-traffic facilities such as stadiums, airports, and hospitals, said the company.

Since its launch, Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, The National Aviary, and several other organizations have implemented the robot.

“We’re excited to deploy our TrashBot system nationally with such a well-respected partner as ARO,” said Tanner Cook, co-founder and senior vice president of engineering of CleanRobotics. “Partnering with a company that shares many values with CleanRobotics will create opportunities to push our goals of building a sustainable and valuable waste ecosystem.”

ARO offers RaaS

ARO provides manufacturers and customers with robotics-as-a-service (RaaS), which includes financing, management, operations, customer success, and support. The Chicago-based company said its RaaS model can help them with operational commercialization and save on capital expenditures.

“We’re incredibly excited to announce our new RaaS program,” said Pittelkow. “Our partners are always looking to preserve capital, increase sales, and increase customer success and device utilization. This program provides a complete package in making all of those things happen.”

In 2022, ARO partnered with Ottonomy for its indoor and outdoor delivery robots and with H3 Dynamics for its “drone-in-a-box” systems.

At a 95% accuracy, TrashBot identifies and diverts recyclable, landfill, and contaminated items into their corresponding bins inside. TrashBot eliminates human error, helping high-traffic facilities to achieve zero waste, said CleanRobotics.
