Concordance Healthcare Solutions LLC and Locus Robotics Corp. today announced that Concordance has chosen Locus' autonomous mobile robots, or AMRs, as the primary technology to support its high-volume order fulfillment for the healthcare industry.
“Our partnership with Locus Robotics will help bring even greater efficiencies to our warehouses, help control costs, and enhance the productivity of our employees,” stated Keith Price, CIO of Concordance. “Locus' flexibility, seamless scalability, and fast ROI [return on investment] will enhance our ability to scale to serve the rapidly growing needs of our customers and the patient healthcare facilities they support.”
Concordance claimed that it is one of the largest independent healthcare distributors in the U.S. The Tiffin, Ohio-based company has more than 175 years of combined industry experience through the merger of three healthcare distributors.
Concordance adds LocusBots to national network
Concordance Healthcare Solutions has 19 distribution centers licensed in 48 states. The company said it delivers “dynamic, dependable service to the entire care continuum including acute care, community health, government, home care, hospice, laboratory, long term care, primary care and surgery centers.”
In addition to offering support for equipment, remodeling, and construction projects, Concordance has experts dedicated to emergency preparedness, third-party logistics (3PL), and reverse logistics. It integrated LocusBots with its warehouse distribution network.
The companies said the robots provide a scalable and flexible way to optimize productivity in the order-fulfillment process by significantly increasing throughput and lowering order cycle times.
The LocusBots can reduce unproductive walking time, eliminate maneuvering heavy manual carts through warehouses, and reduce the overall physical demands on employees, said Locus. In addition, the supplier said its AMRs can improve ergonomics and overall workplace quality.
Following the initial deployment at its warehouse in Tiffin, Ohio, Concordance is now in the process of rolling out the robots to 10 more sites across the U.S.
Locus promises warehouse efficiencies

Locus Robotics said its AMRs collaborate with human workers to double or triple product movement and productivity. The Wilmington, Mass.-based company noted that it was named to the Inc. 500 two years in a row and that it has won over 17 industry and technology awards.
Locus asserted that it has more than 100 of the world's top brands as customers and deployments at over 250 sites around the world. It said it enables retailers, 3PLs, and specialty warehouses to efficiently meet and exceed the increasingly complex and demanding requirements of today's fulfillment environments.
