Dafiti, a fashion e-commerce retailer in Latin America, has deployed GreyOrange's GreyMatter for more efficient and safer robotic fulfillment with help from Sistemos.

GreyOrange Inc. has continued its expansion in Latin America, offering robots for fulfillment and inventory optimization software. The Roswell, Ga.-based company today announced an agreement with Dafiti, a leading fashion e-commerce platform in the region, to enhance warehouse productivity for Dafiti’s operations in Chile with its GreyMatter software.

“We chose GreyOrange to support our fulfillment operations because we want to provide our customers with the best possible shopping experience with reliable, fast delivery times and complete visibility,” said Jose Miguel Cortés, chief operating officer for Spanish-speaking countries at Dafiti Group. “As we plan for future growth, we knew that within the next five years, we’d need a solution that could give us increased flexibility and scalability.”

Founded in 2011, Dafiti Group claimed that it is the largest fashion and lifestyle e-commerce business in Latin America. The São Paolo, Brazil-based company said it “aims to revolutionize the fashion ecosystem with intelligence.”

Dafiti operates in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, and Colombia and has more than 3,800 employees. It said its platforms had more than 7.7 million active customers, generating a net merchandise value (NVM) of BRL 3.4 billion ($656 million U.S.).

E-commerce sales in Latin America will grow from $50 billion in 2019 to $160 billion by 2025, predicted Statista. Similarly, the Latin American market for warehouse robotics could experience a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 11% between 2020 and 2025 as demand and technological capabilities increase, according to Mordor Intelligence.

Sistemo deploys GreyMatter at Dafiti

Sistemo, a South American systems integrator, recently expanded its partnership with GreyOrange. Sistemo deployed GreyOrange's Ranger MoveSmart (RMS) robots and GreyMatter.

The companies said the smart fulfillment systems will help Dafiti serve customers faster with increased throughput using RMS robots. The scalable and agile conveying and sorting systems will provide greater efficiency and accuracy, which are essential during peak season, GreyOrange claimed.

GreyMatter orchestrates the operations of autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) to replace Dafiti’s traditional processes in its fulfillment center. The RMS system optimizes multiple flows, such as cross-dock orders; items that need to be consolidated and put away; and outbound sorting of packed orders, said GreyOrange.

These flows are all processed in a single field, with more than 100 destinations, greatly reducing footprint, storage costs, handling times, and maximizing efficiency, according to the company.

“Fast-growing companies like Dafiti require automation solutions that allow them to easily adjust their fulfillment processes as market dynamics change, which we know is inevitable,” stated Samay Kohli, co-founder and CEO of GreyOrange. “The power to quickly adapt gives retailers an edge in today’s market.”

GreyOrange expects growth

GreyOrange said GreyMatter works with certified third-party hardware. The company said its systems “offer a competitive advantage by increasing productivity, empowering growth and scale, mitigating labor challenges, and reducing risk and time to market while also creating better experiences for customers and employees.”

“As our partnership grows with Dafiti, GreyMatter's ability to integrate additional automation solutions alongside RMS will enable the increased flexibility and scalability Dafiti requires,” Kohli added.

“We've added the top two or three retail outlets in Latin America,” he told Robotics 24/7

Founded in 2012, GreyOrange employs more than 800 people, with offices and partners across the Americas, Europe and Asia. It raised $110 mllion in financing in May.

In August, Quadrant Knowledge Solutions named the company the “Customer Impact Technology Leader” in its SPARK Matrix report on AMRs.

The GreyMatter fulfillment operating system continuously solves to drive optimal decisions, efficient orchestration and rapid execution across the entire fulfillment operation, said GreyOrange.
