Geekplus Technology Co. today said it has continued its expansion in South America with a successful robotics deployment at SP Digital, an e-commerce provider of computer hardware and gaming products in Chile.

Beijing-based Geek+ worked with strategic partner Boreal Technologies SA, a supplier of mobile systems. The companies said autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) will give SP Digital the capacity to support its rapid business growth during peak season.

“We are excited to see Boreal leverage our picking solution to support a leading e-commerce company like SP Digital with the efficiency and accuracy needed to expand its business,” said Randy Randolph, senior director of channel relationships at Geek+ America. “By integrating our AI-driven AMRs, SP Digital can optimize its warehouse operations, respond to rapid changes in order volume, and continue to provide accurate deliveries during peak season.”

SP Digital faces demand spikes

As online shopping has surged during the COVID-19 pandemic, SP Digital said it has faced unprecedented challenges and massive spikes in demand. In order to improve operator efficiency and warehouse throughput, the company digitalized its supply chain with Geek+’s picking systems.

By integrating robotics and artificial intelligence, SP Digital is now able to optimize warehouse operations, achieve maximum picking efficiency, and meet increased consumer demands.

“For us, implementing the Geek+ robotics systems in our value chain is an important step on the path towards enriching and strengthening the services we offer our clients,” stated Diego Santander, CEO of SP Digital. “In a crazy, dynamic, and changing world, the only accurate compass is people. Listening to your customers it is always a successful and enriching exercise. We are very satisfied with the work done together with Boreal and Geek+ robotics. We look forward to continuing to collaborate and expand the range of solutions.”

Founded as a family business in 2006 in Santiago, Chile, SP Digital is an e-commerce provider of electronics to the Chilean market. The company supports its growth through constant innovation, trend studies, and a wide range of products and services.

“SP Digital is a great example of the successful implementation of autonomous mobile robots by Boreal with remote support from Geek+,” added Roberto Fuhr, CEO of Boreal Technologies. “We are very happy to have collaborated with our collective teams that provided the comprehensive automation capabilities, and we appreciate the opportunity they gave us to automate current and future operations.”

With offices in Chile, Peru, and Argentina, Boreal offers systems to increase worker efficiency. The company said it is one of the largest providers of industrial mobile computing, robotics, augmented reality, software, services, and support.

Geek+ said it will continue to work closely with SP Digital to enable fast and agile order fulfillment. The company also plans to collaborate with Boreal to help e-commerce retailers overcome warehouse challenges across South America.

Geek+ robots can be combined with a variety of racks, pallets, and shelving units to adapt to products of all sizes.
