At CeMAT Asia, Geek+ is presenting its latest high-density robotic storage and goods-to-person picking systems that it says can improve space utilization and warehouse efficiency.

Geekplus Technology Co. today said it is showing its new automation products at CeMAT Asia. Its portfolio includes the PopPick goods-to-person system and the RoboShuttle Next Gen, which integrates high-density, tote-picking robots with floor-based picking robots.

“In less than six years, we’ve managed to help global brands adjust and grow using intelligent robot solutions,” said Liu Kai, co-founder, and vice president of smart warehouse products at Geek+. “The consistent flow of industry insights and experience allows us to provide solutions that match market conditions.”

“Today, there is a general shortage of labor and space, and this issue will keep growing as global e-commerce continues to drive the demand for more warehouses,” he added. “Both PopPick and RoboShuttle Next Gen are long-term solutions that help businesses make the most of available space through intelligent organization and flexible handling of different types of storage units, and labor by optimizing the picking process at the workstation.”

Founded in 2015, Geek+ said it applies robotics and artificial intelligence to realize flexible, reliable, and highly efficient solutions for warehouses and supply chain management. The Beijing-based company said it has more than 1,500 employees and 300 global customers and claimed that it has sold over 20,000 robots worldwide.

Geek+ touts PopPick efficiency

Geek+ said its PopPick goods-to-person system can improve picking station efficiency and space usage. It is compatible with different types of storage units such as totes and cartons. These are stored densely in an inventory area using pallets or mobile racks of 3.7 m (12.1 ft.) height for 50% more storage density compared with its predecessor.

One rack can store up to 60 totes and be customized to store goods of varying sizes in an optimized way allowing four times more transportation efficiency, said the company.

Once incoming orders are registered, picking robots transfer pallets or mobile racks to a PopPick station, where intelligent robot arms effectively retrieve totes or boxes of ordered goods and give them to the operator in two picking points. This can triple throughput capacity, according to Geek+. By optimizing the number of robots and maximizing space utilization and throughput capacity, PopPick can reduce costs by 50%, it said.

RoboShuttle Next Gen uses two robot types

RoboShuttle Next Gen is made up of two types of robots—the RS8 and the P50. RS8 is an 8-m (26.2 ft.) tall, box-picking autonomous mobile robot (AMR) that navigates narrow aisles. The P40 is a tote-carrying robot equipped with a box-lifting module.

RoboShuttle allows businesses to make full use of vertical warehouse space and ensure safe storage, retrieval, and organization of boxes carrying small to midsized items of many different SKUs, said Geek+.

Once a box is retrieved, the robot places it on the lowest shelf of the rack, where a P40 robot swiftly carries it to an operator at a picking station, using its lifting module to adjust the box to a suitable height for the operators. This enables an ergonomic and safe work process, the company said.

If an SKU is subject to high demand, RoboShuttle can intelligently cache boxes of popular SKUs on the lowest shelf to speed up the picking process. Combining high-density robots with flexible picking robots, businesses can triple storage capacity and handle up to 500 boxes per hour, per station, said Geek+.

Geek+ says its new AMR is over 8 meters high and can handle packages of all sizes.
