Geek+ Reaches for New Heights in Warehouses With RoboShuttle RS8-DA

Geek+ is expanding its RoboShuttle family with an 8-meter robot reach and flexible tote-picking capabilities.

GeekPlus Technology Co. today announced the launch of RoboShuttle RS8-DA, an 8-meter-high (26.2 ft. tall) flexible arm robot. The Beijing-based company claimed that it is the highest in the industry and will enable customers to maximize the use of their warehouses. 

“With e-commerce and warehouse rental spikes, businesses need a flexibility and space utilization that traditional automation does not provide,” stated Liu Kai, co-founder and vice president of smart warehouse products at Geek+. “Our engineering teams are continuously developing innovative solutions to meet this demand and allow our clients to remain competitive while providing a safe working environment to their employees.”

Founded in 2015, Geek+ said it uses robotics and artificial intelligence to realize flexible, reliable, and efficient systems for warehouses and supply chain management. The company added that it has over 300 global customers, more than 1,500 employees, and has deployed more than 20,000 robots worldwide.

RoboShuttle extends reach

“RoboShuttle is a safe, efficient, and flexible high-density solution that solves the complex logistics scenarios brought on by the rise in e-commerce and the need for systems that can optimize precious warehouse space intelligently,” said Geek+. It is designed to be compatible with 8-m-high racks, as well as totes, cartons, and boxes of varying width. The company said its robot can improve space utilization by 5x.

The autonomous mobile robot (AMR) also has a slim and robust chassis design, a flexible doorframe, and double-deep telescopic fork arms, according to Geek+. It added that RoboShuttle can navigate narrow aisles and reach a maximum height of 8,145mm (26.7 ft.).

Using its fork arms, the robot can access the inventory rows of varying depth placed as low as 285mm (11.2 in.) and as high as 7,820mm (307.8 in. or 25.6 ft.), targeting horizontal as well as vertical warehouse space. 

Equipped with an intelligent depth camera and high-precision sensors, the robot can adjust its arms to pick boxes of varying sizes, optimizing overall shelf space, said Geek+. The storage location can also be allocated according to the size of the box, improving inventory organization.

Connected to a warehouse management system (WMS) and driven by intelligent algorithms, the robot can autonomously transfer up to eight totes to and from a workstation. This enables the automation of picking, replenishment, reverse logistics, and inventory-checking processes, Geek+ said.
