Electric motor vehicle manufacturer INDIEV Inc. announced this week that it has relocated into a new research and development facility and has entered a $120 million deal with HITO Robotics Systems to help ramp up production.
The company is currently accepting reservations for its INDI One EV. The standard model of the car costs $45,000, and the premium version costs $69,000. The car will be equipped with the company’s Vehicle Integrated Computer (VIC), which it said will power the car’s infotainment system. The car will also use the company’s HALO ADAS Warning System and feature an automatic emergency brake, adaptive cruise control, lane keep and change assist, evasive steering assist, and auto and remote parking assist.
The company plans to begin to deliver vehicles to customers during Q2 2023.
By partnering with HITO Robotics, an industrial warehouse automation provider, INDI EV said it will be able to operate more flexibly. Suzhou, China-based HITO Robotics said it offers customers a range of robotic systems, including robot arms and autonomous mobile robots (AMRs). It also has a research and development division and holds more than 200 patents.
“INDIEV is purchasing equipment for a completely automated assembly line to create standardized systems and highly automated production models,” it said. “The automated new system will allow for a flexible vehicle production process that can expand from 20 units in phase one to 80 units in the expansion phase.
New facility designed to help bring the company’s first EV to market
INDI EV said it relocated its research and development facility to Orange County, Costa Mesa, which it said is an automotive hubspot. The company added that the new facility will help it bring the INDI One closer to production and help establish it as a major auto company in the Orange County area.

“These two milestones mark significant progress in the production of the INDI One, which started being developed in 2017,” it added. “INDIEV is excited to continue its growth and success with the new R&D facility and the partnership with HITO Robotics Systems.
