Mitsubishi Logisnext North America gave the details of the latest AGV developed by Jungheinrich.

Mitsubishi Logisnext Americas has unveiled a new automated guided vehicle, or AGV, from Jungheinrich designed to navigate narrow aisles. The Jungheinrich EKX 516ka / 516a Automated High-Rack Stacker has a payload capacity of 3,500 lb. or 1,587 kg, and a lift height of 511 in. or 1,297 cm.

Houston-based Mitsubishi Logisnext Americas is the exclusive North American distributor of material handling equipment developed by Hamburg, Germany-based Jungheinrich. Jungheinrich’s lineup of products include advanced forklifts and automated guided vehicles. Mitsubishi Logisnext sells those systems at 340 dealer locations across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.

The company also sells systems developed by CAT, RoclaAGV Solutions, and UniCarriers.

“We are proud to unveil the latest in Jungheinrich innovation with the EKX 516ka / 516a AGV High-Rack Stacker,” said John Sneddon, executive vice president of sales and marketing at Mitsubishi Logisnext Americas.

“Our Jungheinrich Automated Guided Vehicles combine proven technology with cutting-edge automation, including accurate navigation technology designed to help increase warehouse and operator efficiency,” he added.

Jungheinrich EKX 516ka can be customized

Mitsubishi Logisnext said the new AGV features 180 degree swiveling forks, which allow it to maneuver aisles as narrowly as 68.” Customers can also configure the robot to feature an on-board battery charger, bus bar, and current collector to have it operate continuously.

Using radio frequency identification transponders and field-test wire guidance, the robot has a precise understanding of its position within a warehouse. The robot can be operated manually, semi-autonomously, and fully autonomously, according to Mitsubishi.

The robot is battery powered and was designed to be energy-efficient, the company said. It also was built with modularity and reparability in mind. Customers can customize the mast and carriage configurations for their specific use cases.
