Nala Robotics has released a robotic system capable of cleaning dishes in professional kitchens.

Nala Robotics announced earlier this week Spotless by Nala, a robotic dishwashing system designed for use in professional kitchens.

Arlington Heights, Ill.-based Nala Robotics makes a range of robotic products designed for commercial kitchen use including The Wingman, Pizzaiola, and Nala Chef.

Spotless is being deployed at restaurants, senior living centers, and other commercial venues. The company said Spotless uses high-performance cameras and machine learning to help the cobot arm clean. It can remove leftovers by rinsing and can dry and stack dishes as well.

Customers can rent Spotless for $2,995 per month, according to Nala Robotics.

“Our revolutionary patented dishwashing system allows operators to overcome staffing challenges and never miss a smudge,” said Ajay Sunkara, CEO of Nala Robotics. “We've heard countless stories from managers and owners who had to pull double duty because the dish washer didn't show up for work. By installing our robot, they'll never have to worry about turnaround time and every dish will be spotless.”

Dishwashing is among most highly requested tasks to be automated

The company noted the need for robotic systems like Spot is growing as turnover rates for dishwasher is high during their first year of employment.

“Meanwhile, a growing number of consumers are becoming more amenable to robots taking on expanding roles in the workplace, particularly at restaurants and other food establishments,” the company said in a release earlier this week.

It cited a national omnibus survey of Xcelerant, which found that dishwashing “was the highest ranked potential task for robots aside from chef.”

The company said in the coming months and years it plans to add additional robotic systems for use in kitchens, entertainment venues, stadiums, and hotels.

“We are continuously developing additional solutions and innovations to meet the needs of our customers like our new Spotless robot, which also can work alongside staff for high-volume cleaning,” said Vijay Kodali, CTO of Nala Robotics.

“There continues to be great opportunity for Nala Robotics as we work at enhancing daily functions in restaurant kitchens with our proprietary AI technology that not only saves costs but improves productivity,” he added.
