Businesses of all sizes share common goals—minimizing the need for scarce manual labor and improving the accuracy and performance of supply chain operations. Numina Group Inc. this week said it has increased its workforce by 34% in the first half of 2022. The Woodridge, Ill.-based company deisgns automation and process-improvement systems to reduce warehouse labor costs and increase productivity and business profitability.
With a 35-year track record as an independent systems integrator and software developer, Numina Group said it focuses on lean processes that optimize manufacturing and distribution operations. The company added that it can help them with picking, packing, and shipping.
Numina has in-house software development, engineering, and automation controls departments. It said it works with clients to evaluate and select the right warehouse processes and materials handling automation.
Numina hires industry, technical talent
New hires at Numina Group include several director-level senior managers to bring additional leadership and industry experience to the firm. The company has also added additional software engineers, mechanical and electrical engineers, project managers, technicians, and customer-support managers.
Kevin Walsh joins Numina Group as the director of engineered solutions. He had a long career at UPS working both as a senior industrial engineering manager and as a facility operations manager. Walsh also worked in the third-party logistics (3PL) industry as senior manager of technology, engineering, and systems at DSC Logistics, which CJ Logistics recently acquired.
“It is exciting to join an established design and automation firm with a great reputation for innovation,” he said. “I’ve worked both operation management and systems’ engineering roles from the customer’s side, so I enjoy the data-driven approach to design with Numina.”

Jeff Vinkler is joining Numina Group as the director of software engineering. He has experience leading software engineering and development teams responsible for designing, developing, and implementing complex solutions, including over 10 years at Accenture. Vinkler will lead the software delivery and customer-service support teams at Numina.
“I’m very happy to be part of Numina’s organization and am looking forward to helping deliver quality products for our customers,” he stated. “I’m thrilled that my 28 years of experience in software engineering delivery on both sides of the client/vendor relationship can help Numina continue its growth trajectory.”
Vinkler will focus on leadership, team building, communication, and comprehensive project management to help scale the organization to support its current and future growth.
Partnerships prepare for market growth
Numina Group has worked with Addverb Technologies, Waypoint Robotics, and Locus Robotics, which acquired Waypoint in September 2021.The companies collaborated on connecting mobile robots and distribution software, order fulfillment, and palletizing, respectively.
In March, Numina announced a strategic alliance with Core eBusiness Solutions to offer automation integrated with warehouse management software (WMS) as a single system.
The global market for warehouse automation could expand from $15.21 billion in 2021 to $31.03 billion in 2026 at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 15.45%, according to ReportLinker. Research and Markets predicted a 13.6% CAGR between 2022 and 2026, with the market reaching $33.34 billion in 2026. Both credited e-commerce demand and mobile robot development as causes.
