To take full advantage of collaborative robots, manufacturers need tools to build applications. Today, Vention announced a partnership with OnRobot A/S to combine its manufacturing automation platform, or MAP, with OnRobot's library of end-of-arm tools.
“We’re thrilled to be working with OnRobot to offer a range of industry-leading cobot solutions,” stated Patrick Tawagi, director of application development at Vention. “OnRobot’s suite of grippers and end-of-arm tools covers almost every application in the cobot market, and their straightforward interface combined with Vention’s platform makes them incredibly easy to deploy.”
Montreal-based Vention claimed that it can help manufacturers design, program, order, and commission equipment directly from their Web browsers, bringing automation to their production floors in just a few days.
OnRobot offers electric, vacuum, and magnetic grippers, as well as the Gecko gripping technology. The Odense, Denmark-based company also sells force/torque sensors, a 2.5D vision system, screwdrivers, sander kits, and tool changers. With offices worldwide, OnRobot provides automation for applications such as packaging, quality control, materials handling, machine tending, packaging, assembly, and surface finishing.
MAP to make applying OnRobot tooling easier
Vention said MAP provides users with the engineering software and modular hardware they need to design, automate, order, and deploy factory equipment in a single digital environment. With thousands of modular parts, smart design tools, and real-time pricing, factory equipment can be designed in minutes from anywhere, on any web browser, it said.
The addition of OnRobot’s plug-and-play tools for collaborative and light industrial robots will allow manufacturers to focus on scaling production with greater flexibility and efficiency, according to the partners.
The combination of offerings will make it easier to automate tasks such as machine tending, material handling, material removal and assembly. With a wide array of grippers, tooling, and sensors, the application possibilities have now been significantly expanded, said OnRobot and Vention.
