OPEX will for the first time have an exhibit at one of the U.K.'s biggest materials handling tradeshows.

OPEX Corp. will have a presence at this year’s IMHX 2022, which will be held from Sept. 5 to 9 at NEC Birmingham in Marston, England. This will be the first time the Moorestown, N.J.-based company will exhibit its Sure Sort robotic sorting system at a U.K. show.

This will also be OPEX’s first time exhibiting at IMHX at all, which bill itself as U.K.’s largest showcase of materials handling services and equipment.

Sure Sort System can scale up

The company said the sorting systems include iBOT robots that can process up to 2,400 items each hour with as little as three operators. The system is being used by retailers, 3PLs, and distributors for order handling, cross-docking, and parcel sorting. Several large U.K. companies are in the process of installing Sure Sort systems into their operations, including Boux Avenue and Torque, according to OPEX.

“Sure Sort is a scalable and cost-effective alternative to traditional put wall sorting,” said Nicolas Dewit, OPEX warehouse automation director of business development for Europe, Middle East, and Asia.“ It is an ideal e-commerce solution for micro-fulfillment centers, retail stores, and distribution centers that demand a small footprint, high accuracy, speed, and high productivity in a system that does not increase labor.”

OPEX said it offers a suite of modular, flexible systems that can be customized and easily adapted to meet evolving business needs, including Perfect Pick, an automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS) that it claims dramatically improves speed, efficiency, and reliability.

A virtual reality experience

The company’s exhibit will be at Stand 5D115 where attendees can interact with OPEX operators to better understand how the system can benefit their business. At the exhibit, attendees will be able to check out the Perfect Pick HD through a virtual reality tour of a warehouse in which they will pick items using an Meta headset guided by OPEX experts.

Perfect Pick reduces reliance on labor to pick and ship orders in a system that stores inventory securely in self-contained units, the company claimed.

High-density racking increases throughput, reliability, and effectiveness while optimizing a warehouse’s space with a fleet of iBOTs that access every storage location in the warehouse aisle horizontally and vertically and deliver inventory directly to a workstation, eliminating the need for complicated conveyor systems or transfer equipment, it added.

The company has facilities in Pennsauken, NJ; Plano, Tex; France; Germany; Switzerland; the U.K.; and Australia. OPEX has more than 1,600 employees.
