Realtime Robotics Inc. today said it plans to open a new office to meet growing demand for autonomous motion planning for industrial robots in Japan. The new facility will open in the Shinagawa area of Tokyo on Oct. 1.
Manufacturing, logistics, and automotive companies have been looking to accelerate their adoption of industrial robotics to enhance productivity and respond to labor shortages, said the company. Realtime Robotics said it can help them remove engineering complexity, reduce cycle time, lower expenses, and establish greater operational efficiency.
“One of the key sparks for evolution in the manufacturing and logistics industries has been finding a way to accomplish more, while using less resources,” said Koji Kobayashi, vice president of business development for Japan at Realtime Robotics. “Our technology can help improve robotic automation and collaboration, limiting programming complexity and speeding deployment and redeployment.”
“We’re excited to open this new space and be able to showcase these advances to customers and partners, both new and existing,” Kobayashi said.
The Boston-based company said its new laboratory and demonstration space will allow customers to directly collaborate with its team and better understand how its technology works. Realtime Robotics is a resident member of MassRobotics, a collective dedicated to growing the Massachusetts robotics ecosystem by helping innovators and entrepreneurs.
Realtime Robotics works to accelerate automation
Realtime Robotics said its technology generates collision-free motion plans in milliseconds for industrial robots and autonomous vehicles. This empowers robots to function together at full speed in unstructured and collaborative workspaces, it claimed.
In addition, autonomous systems can use the technology to react to dynamic obstacles the instant changes are perceived, according to Realtime Robotics.
In June, the company raised $31.4 million in Series A funding. Realtime Robotics works with Japanese customers and partners such as FANUC, Kawasaki, Mitsubishi Electric, Siemens Digital Industries Software, and Yaskawa.
