ROEQ ApS today announced that it is continuing to expand its line of accessories for autonomous mobile robots, or AMRs. The Vissenbjerg, Denmark-based company said its ROEQ TMC130 top module and cart system will increase the payload capacity of OMRON LD-90x AMRs from 90 kg (198 lb.) to 130 kg (287 lb.).
The new system, which ROEQ developed with OMRON, will expand options for customers to safely and reliably use the compact LD-90x robot for higher-payload missions, even where space is constrained, said the companies.
“It’s been a pleasure collaborating with ROEQ on this new cart system for our LD line,” said Kyle Hable, group product manager at OMRON Robotics and Safety Technologies Inc. “Products like the TMC500 and TMC130 not only increase the payload of our mobile robots, [but] they also give customers an off-the-shelf solution that greatly simplifies their automation development process.”
Founded in 2017, ROEQ develops off-the-shelf mobile robotic equipment (MRE) designed to optimize internal workflows such as between storage and production with logistics automation. The company said its cart, lifter and roller systems enable AMRs to safely and reliably transport and transfer loads between workstations with no human involvement.
ROEQ develops, manufactures, and sells its products, which uses components supplied by other Danish companies, in nearly 40 countries through more than 100 distributors. Its systems are used in the logistics, manufacturing, and healthcare sectors.
TMC130 designed to add capacity
The new product joins its “big brother”—the TMC500, which ROEQ announced in September 2022 and doubles the payload capacity of the OMRON LD-250 robots.
Like other ROEQ cart systems, the TMC130 can dock to the cart from both ends and offers the flexibility of free space pickup and dropoff. This makes it easy for almost any workplace to adapt to its needs, said the company.
The TMC130 includes mounting holes for accessories such as light towers and the ROEQ Cart130, allowing for easy adaptation for crates and shelving, said ROEQ. The new system is also designed to comply with relevant safety standards and comes with ROEQ Assist software for consistent setup with the OMRON mobile robot.
The new cart and top module system works with OMRON’s own panel. It has six wheels for easy maneuverability and a side laser kit available for increased obstacle avoidance, said ROEQ. The company said it expects the ROEQ TMC130 for the OMRON LD-90x to be available in the summer of 2023.
ROEQ to also exhibit TR1000 at Automate
In addition to the TMC130, ROEQ said it plans to display several products at Booth 4841 at Automate, which will be from May 22 to 25 in Detroit.
“Our first OMRON product had a very positive market reception, and we’re looking forward to showing Automate audiences this new addition to the ROEQ portfolio of high-quality cart systems,” stated Michael Ejstrup Hansen, managing director of ROEQ. “For customers looking to automate tasks such as quickly moving smaller, lighter cargo between work stations or shelves – even in narrow spaces where larger carts are challenged – this is an ideal solution.”
The company said it also plans to show its heaviest-duty top roller, the TR1000, which can transport goods weighing up to 350 kg (772 lb.) with Mobile Industrial Robots’ MiR600 and up to 1,000 kg (2,204 lb.) with the MiR1350.
“The TR1000 is quickly becoming a popular product, especially within the automotive industry, where internal transport of heavy payloads is key to streamlined production,” Hansen said.
With dimensions of 1,435 x 1,160 mm (56.5 x 45.7 in.), the TR1000 can accommodate large as well as heavy payloads, with adjustable roller speed from 0.01 to 0.17 m/sec (0.02 to 0.38 mph). For safety, the roller’s built-in position sensor confirms correct position of the AMR before transfer of goods, added ROEQ.
The TR1000 is fully compatible with the award-winning ROEQ GuardCom system for efficient transfer of material to and from conveyor stations, said the company. It does not require potentially unstable Wi-Fi connections, it said.
Hansen noted that that more products are in the pipeline, including a lifter that ROEQ plans to show later this year.
