Sarcos has more than doubled its space as it continues its expansion and commercialization.

Sarcos Technology and Robotics Corp. last week announced that it has moved into a new headquarters and production facility in the Granary District of Salt Lake City. The company said its move to the new space comes as it completes commercialization of its industrial exoskeleton and teleoperated industrial robotic avatar products.

“We are thrilled to be in our new, state-of-the-art headquarters,” stated Ben Wolff, chairman and CEO of Sarcos. “With the significant company growth we are expecting over the next several years, we needed a building that could accommodate additional employees as well initial production of our flagship commercial products.”

Sarcos offers robotic systems to augment worker performance by combining human intelligence, instinct, and judgment with the strength, endurance, and precision of machines to enhance employee safety and productivity.

The company said it has leveraged more than 30 years of research and development in designing its mobile systems to change the nature of physically demanding work in sectors such as construction, defenselogistics, and utilities.

Its systems include the Guardian S inspection robot, the Guardian GT mobile manipulator, the Guardian XO full-body industrial exoskeleton, and Guardian XT teleoperated avatar.

Sarcos completed a $260 million merger with special-purpose acquisition company (SPAC) Rotor Acquisition Corp. and began trading on the Nasdaq in September.

Sarcos doubles footprint

Sarcos Robotics' new office, laboratory, and production facility occupies more than 60,000 sq. ft. (5,574.1 sq. m). The company said it expects to increase its headcount by 60% to 70% over the course of 2022.

The space, which nearly doubles the size of Sarcos' previous headquarters, includes an extensive test lab and demonstration space for customer use-case validation and trials.

The company said it expects to start producing the commercial versions of its Guardian XO battery-powered exoskeleton and the Guardian XT dexterous mobile robotic system at the end of 2022. Sarcos estimated that it will be able to produce between 300 and 500 Guardian XO and Guardian XT units per year at its new facility.

The new Sarcos headquarters is located at 650 S. 500 W. Suite 150, Salt Lake City, UT, 84101, within the INDUSTRY Salt Lake City building. INDUSTRY is a modern office space with two additional locations in Denver and houses a variety of tenants in addition to Sarcos.

The company has signed a 12-year lease with options to extend for up to six additional years. Barb Johnson and Kreg Peterson from CBRE represented Sarcos for the lease transaction.
