CHICAGO—Seegrid Corp. this week announced that it has expanded the ability of its Palion Lift and Palion Tow Tractor to work together to load and unload carts with no human intervention. The Pittsburgh-based company said this will enable its autonomous mobile robots, or AMRs, to fulfill more applications for more customers and foster AMR interoperability.
“Expectations and supply chain pressures continue to become more demanding and complex, requiring more integrated material handling solutions,” said David Griffin, chief sales officer of Seegrid.
“Seegrid’s line of Palion AMRs is always evolving to support increasing needs throughout and across facilities,” he added. “Not only does this automation mean improved safety, reliability, and throughput, but through coordinated movements between Seegrid Palion AMRs, the business case for our customers gets even stronger.”
Seegrid said it combines AMRs, enterprise software, and services for a “complete, connected material handling automation solution.” The Palion robots are reliable, flexible, and proven, claimed the company.
Palion robots now work closely together
Seegrid said its Palion AMR fleet has autonomously driven nearly 10 million miles in customer production environments.
Palion Lift combines Seegrid's 3D vision-based navigation with situational awareness to automate pallet movement, noted the company. The company said its newest AMR can autonomously transport loads up to 3,500 lb. throughout customer operations.
It can precisely and securely retrieve and place palletized goods at heights of up to 6 ft. for an “end-to-end solution for pallet movement,” said Seegrid.
The Palion Tow Tractor autonomously transforms horizontal material movement by tugging cart trains and other payloads weighing up to 10,000 lb. It uses proprietary navigation technology for safe deliveries, Seegrid added.
With new advances in perception technology, Palion Lift can work directly with Palion Tow Tractor to load and unload carts, which was previously a time-consuming and labor-intensive workflow. Seegrid said the interoperability of its AMRs will enable customers to optimize their existing workforce and improve operational efficiencies.
Seegrid shows off robots, software at ProMat 2023
Seegrid asserted that the world’s largest manufacturing, warehousing, and logistics companies rely on it to automate material flow in highly complex environments. From project design through deployment, change management, user training, and data-driven consultation, the company said its robots and software can improve safety and optimize operations, accelerating automation initiatives.
This week at ProMat, Seegrid is demonstrating cart loading and unloading, lane staging, and table and conveyor picking and placing with Palion Lift and Palion Tow Tractor.
Visitors to Booth N7120 will also have an opportunity to see how Seegrid’s Fleet Central enterprise software can orchestrate material flow.
