As supply chains increasingly recognize the benefits of automation, the companies that serve them can scale to meet their needs. Seegrid Corp. yesterday reported that it expects strong growth in 2022, driven by its strategic investments in 2021 and increased demand for its robots in multiple industries.

Pittsburgh-based Seegrid said it combines autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), enterprise software, and services for connected materials handling automation. The company said its Palion AMRs have driven millions of production miles with no personnel safety incidents.
From project design through deployment, change management, user training, and data-driven consultation, Seegrid said it provides optimized material flow in complex environments to the world’s largest manufacturing, warehousing, and logistics companies.
Seegrid invests in R&D
Seegrid said it has invested millions of dollars into new equipment and tools to help drive its research and development initiatives. The company has also doubled its headcount over the past 24 months.
Last year, Seegrid introduced Blue Labs, its new in-house R&D team dedicated to quickly identifying new automation technologies to further its technical advantage.
“Seegrid is laser-focused on helping our customers stay ahead and providing them with best-in-class reliable solutions that safely address heightened demand, especially amidst the shrinking labor force,” said Rock. “We grew our team with a focus on product development and innovations in autonomous technology.”
Mobile robot fleet grows apace
Last year, Seegrid introduced three new AMR models, including Palion Lift. The company described it as “the only autonomous lift truck in the market with industry-leading 3D perception.”
Supply chain market research firm Interact Analysis recognized Seegrid as the “No. 1 AMR provider in the U.S.” and the market leader in robotic tow tractors worldwide. It now offers its products in a robotics-as-a-service (RaaS) model.
Seegrid added that it has made multiple enhancements to its autonomy technology and fleet management software. Seegrid IQ fuses data from cameras, lidar, and machine learning models with the company’s proprietary 3D computer vision system.
The company also launched Fleet Geek, cloud-based analytics software that tracks and illustrates AMR performance trends, providing actionable insights.
In 2021, with global supply chain pressures continuing to drive demand for Seegrid's automation, the company said its growing AMR fleet drove an additional 2 million autonomous miles, increasing its collective total to 6 million autonomous miles driven in live production environments.
