Seegrid Corp. today announced the availability of Series 8 of its Palion Tow Tractor. The Pittsburgh-based company said the latest version of its automated tow tractor includes enhanced Smart Path technology, increasing a robot fleet's ability to comprehend and make decisions while moving materials in dynamic, high-traffic facilities.
Seegrid said its autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) have been reliably serving the manufacturing, e-commerce, and logistics sectors for more than 5 million miles. Last year, it upgraded its Palion Pallet Truck and unveiled its Palion Lift AMR. The company also recently formed its Blue Labs in-house research and development team.

AI enables Palion to see clearer
Seegrid said its vision-guided vehicles, or VGVs, can see, understand, and learn using artificial intelligence. The company said its Smart Path algorithm uses its proprietary computer vision systems and sensor-fusion models, enabling Palion AMRs to perform and report on tasks safely and efficiently.

The new Palion Tow Tractor Series 8 features enhanced understanding of its path and surroundings, an extended field of view, and a shorter clearance height while still managing a variety of cart train and payload tugging applications with a 10,000-pound maximum load capacity.
Seegrid builds on innovation record
Seegrid claimed that it has been a technology innovator since its founding in 2003 by roboticist Hans Moravec, the company’s chief scientist. The company said its algorithms combine computer vision technology, sensor fusion, and data exhaust capture, have been continuously refined for more than a decade, bolstered by more than $150 million in investment.
In addition, Seegrid said its technology is protected by more than 100 patents, and it has more than 350 employees dedicated to maintaining its market-leading position.
