Soft Robotics Inc. will be heading to Las Vegas next week to take part in the International Baking Industry Exposition. The Bedford, Mass.-based company will have a booth at the popular culinary conference and will exhibit its gripping technology handling food.

The company will demonstrate its mGripAI gripper sorting, picking, and packaging donuts at rates up to 70 picks per minute. A gripper will also be bin picking bread at rates up to 23 picks per minute.

Soft Robotics will speak to a familiar audience

Soft Robotics has been making grippers since 2013. It introduced its mGripAI line in 2021, noting that it combines its soft grippers with 3D vision and artificial intelligence. Soft Robotics has primarily catered to the food processing industry. But earlier this year, it announced it has begun marketing itself to the consumer goods, e-commerce, and logistics markets as well.

IBIE is the perfect platform to showcase our high-speed automated picking solutions,” said Paul Kling, vice president of global sales and marketing at Soft Robotics. “Along with the protein and produce industries, the baking industry is also faced with labor and workforce challenges which are impacting production levels. Whether it's breads, muffins, cookies, or cakes, we have technology and solutions to automate these processes.

Soft Robotics argued its mGripAI systems save floor space, reduce dependency on human workers, increase throughput, lower maintenance costs, and cut down on food waste.

EOAT market to grow

The end-of-arm tooling (EOAT) market is expected to continue to grow in the coming years as various industries continue to invest in automation. Research and Markets reported that the EOAT industry is expected grow by $829 million between 2021 to 2025 at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 4.75%.

The company’s exhibit will be at Booth 5003 in the North Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center. The conference runs from Sept. 18 to 21.

Staubli Robotics will also be displaying the mGripAI system at its exhibit, which will be at Booth 7255.
