No one size fits all for the DC of the future

A3’s Robert Huschka moderated an executive roundtable on “Smart Logistics and the Distribution Center of the Future,” featuring representatives from Arendai, FedEx, Cascadia Capital, and Honeywell Intelligrated.

They discussed the importance of data and simulation for smooth deployments. However, most warehouses in the U.S. are brownfield sites, noted Firdaus Pohowalla, managing director at Cascadia Capital.

“Deals with order management providers—all the way to fulfillment and out the door—will be the darlings of distribution centers over next 24 months,” he said.
