Samsung JetBot 90 AI+ robotic vacuum

The most popular consumer robots are still vacuum cleaners. In 2016, iRobot released the Roomba 960, which it said can autonomously map a user’s home and show clean or dirty areas. Last year, the company updated its smartphone app so that users can specify the areas or times they want the robot to clean.

Samsung this year said it has taken an intelligent approach to housecleaning with its JetBot 90 AI+ robot, which uses Intel processors. The floor cleaner has a lidar sensor with a 20 ft. range, and it can detect, classify, and avoid obstacles. The JetBot can self-empty into its Cleaning Station, which requires a bag change “once every two or three months,” similar to a non-autonomous vacuum cleaner.

Like certain Roomba models, the JetBot 90 AI+ can be monitored and controlled with a mobile app.
