RoboSense last week announced a strategic partnership with Horizon Robotics to develop autonomous vehicles, advanced driver-assistance systems, robotics, and other applications. The companies said they will combine their technological capacity and mass-production experience.
“This strategic partnership will form a greater joint force and empower the two companies to create more visionary intelligent driving product solutions for the industry, to jointly build a prosperous ecology of the vehicle intelligence industry and advance the development of the intelligent connected transportation industry,” stated Dr. Chunxin Qiu, founder and CEO of RoboSense.
RoboSense said it is currently the only company in China to mass-produce automotive-grade pre-installed lidar. The company's M1 second-generation, smart solid-state sensor has obtained pre-installed, fixed-point project orders from multiple brands including GAC AION, WM Motor, ZEEKR, Lotus Cars, Inceptio, and Zhito, covering models including passenger cars and commercial vehicles.
Horizon Robotics said it is a global leader in edge AI computing platforms based on forward-looking software and hardware integration. As the only company in China to mass-produce automotive-grade, pre-installed AI chips, Horizon Robotics said it has collaborated with multiple automotive manufacturers including SAIC Motor, GWM, JAC Group, Changan Auto, and BYD.
RoboSense, Horizon Robotics to commercialize smart vehicles
RoboSense said it will use its lidar software and hardware with Horizon Robotics to promote the large-scale commercialization of integrated perception systems. The partners said their respective industry resources will enable them to jointly promote standardized implementation of smart, onnected transportation.
The partners will build on RoboSense’s second-generation, solid-state RS-LiDAR-M1 and Horizon Robotics’ Journey 3 and Journey 5 automotive smart chips, the two companies will collaborate on the development and adaptation of integrated perception systems.
“Through this strategic partnership, the two companies will fully complement each other with respective advantageous resources, jointly explore cutting-edge technologies, and promote the mass production and large-scale implementation of pioneering intelligent driving solutions,” said Dr. Kai Yu, founder and CEO of Horizon Robotics. The partners will leverage “technological innovation to build a safer and better smart mobility experience for the future.”
RoboSense and Horizon Robotics have a partnership history. The two companies have been planning to work together since 2019, and they have been discussing and exploring vehicle innovations and integrated artificial intelligence. They said they have been jointly laying a solid foundation for long-term accomplishments.
