Flex and Max AMRs from ForwardX Robotics have helped increase units picked per hour by 200%, improving efficiency and labor productivity at SF DHL for Luckin in China.

Global logistics provider SF Supply Chain recently leveraged ForwardX Robotics autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) to meet the distribution needs of Luckin, a fast-growing coffee brand with over 4,000 stores across China.

SF Supply Chain is the exclusive strategic partner for DHL Supply Chain’s business in mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macao.

Confronted with challenges such as low efficiency and high labor intensity, the warehouse initially deployed five ForwardX Flex AMRs.

As Luckin rapidly expanded, the deployment scaled to a fleet of 20 robots, combining Flex and Max AMRs to meet the needs of around 500 stores and optimize operations across an area exceeding 50,000 square feet.

ForwardX said its automation systems can help ensure seamless task allocation between AMRs and pickers. By operating within defined zones, pickers maintain focus on their designated areas for streamlined efficiency.

Once items are placed on an AMR, it autonomously proceeds to the next location, ready for the next person-to-goods picker. Upon reaching full capacity, AMRs navigate to drop-off points, minimizing downtime, maximizing labor productivity and workflow optimization.

ForwardX said its deployment for SF DHL and Luckin has delivered a 200% increase in units picked per hour with just 10 minutes of employee training.
