MODEX 2026: ORBIS showcases packaging for automated systems

ORBIS

ORBIS' MODEX 2026 demo will focus on delivering packaging expertise that powers automated systems.

At MODEX 2026, ORBIS said that it will display its latest in reusable packaging products for automated systems.

ORBIS’ booth will feature engineered pallets, totes and bins that the company said are purpose-built for seamless integration and repeatable performance with robotics, ASRS and autonomous material handling systems.

ORBIS added that its offerings deliver the consistent performance, precise dimensional accuracy and long-term durability that automation demands.

“At ORBIS, we’re immensely proud of our ongoing contributions to today’s automated operations,” said Lynn Hediger, vice-president of product management at ORBIS. “We believe the partnerships we’ve forged in the storage and facility automation spaces are a testament to our strong collaboration with automated system providers and end-users to create a win-win-win solutions that deliver measurable results.”

ORBIS provided the following details related to its MODEX 2026 demos:

  • 40 x 48 Odyssey pallets: This family of reusable, recyclable pallets, available in a wide range of styles and sizes, all work seamlessly in automated systems.
  • AROS totes for automation: This family of precisely molded totes are designed specifically for use in automation. OBRIS said that they feature industry-leading tolerances and internal capacity. ORBIS is also a licensed bin supplier for AutoStore systems.
  • OPTEBulk sleeve pack systems: ORBIS’ OpteBulk sleeve pack system is a sustainable alternative to paper gaylords for storage and distribution of raw material, assemblies and finished goods. ORBIS said that they also offer transportation, packaging and warehouse cost savings because they can be used as a reusable collapsible container. They are ideal for lighter-weight loads. When empty, they collapse and fit up to 120% more containers per trailer than alternative containers.
  • Collapsible bulk containers for automation, work-In-process or shipping: ORBIS offers a wide range of bulk containers used in automated systems. At MODEX, the company will feature the HDMX4048-50 MaxCube and the HDMP4548-338. The company said that the MaxCube was designed for superior shipping efficiency and maximum cubic capacity. It features a rodless hinge and collapses to a 4.0 to 1 return ratio, and features a 14% increase in return efficiency when compared to other bins. The BulkPak HDMP 48×45-338 container features a height of 33″ and 8″ of bottom storage.
    • ORBIS said that this innovative design offers numerous benefits for streamlined shipping, safeguarding custom dunnage within the container, and efficient storage. The HDMP 48×45-338 container is specifically engineered to maximize space utilization in a 53′ trailer, with the ability to accommodate up to 28 positions.
  • ORBIS XpressPickup: This system is designed especially for buy-online/pick-up in-store applications. ORBIS said that this innovative tote design features enhanced dolly and cart capabilities, and can help streamline the picking, staging and delivery of curbside orders.
  • Custom and thermoformed packaging: ORBIS also offers a wide range of custom injection molding capabilities, including packaging for cold chain applications.
    • Thanks to ORBIS’ recent acquisition of Robinson Industries, ORBIS said that it will feature a variety of thermoformed packaging products.

“The level of investment in automation is staggering, and this show is a great place to see all the latest innovations related to packaging and automated systems,” Hediger said. “We are looking forward to being at MODEX, speaking with customers and showing off some of the most exciting innovations in packaging and automation technologies.”
