Kardex said its new offering, BinInductAI, uses vision and AI-based image analysis to improve quality control and reduce AutoStore installation time by up to 30%.
Kardex announced its latest innovation for the AutoStore ASRS, BinInductAI.
The company said that BinInductAI is an intelligent bin induction offering that uses AI and computer vision to provide greater consistency, fewer manual steps and improved quality control during AutoStore implementation.
Featuring AI-driven verification for enhanced error detection, Kardex said that it eliminates the need for manual bin induction pre-checks and scanning, reducing on-site induction time by up to 30%.
Kardex said that BinInductAI simplifies the induction process with one touch via computer vision and AI-based image analysis. The company said that operators can place the bin in the induction port, with no manual scanning or pre-checks required.
Before induction, Kardex said that the system automatically performs a series of quality checks, verifying and inspecting bin presence, bin walls, robot pickup holes and barcode readability. Once the barcode is validated, Kardex said that BinInductAI confirms with the AutoStore system that the bin is not already registered to prevent duplicates, before automatically sending the insertion commands and inducting the bin into the AutoStore grid.
By reducing installation times, implementation costs and labor requirements, and automatically detecting barcode issues, duplicates, faulty or dirty bins, Kardex said that BinInductAI helps improve system uptime and prevent disruptions to the AutoStore system.
“BinInductAI is the latest AutoStore innovation from Kardex, significantly reducing on-site induction and installation times, and implementation costs,” said Fred Fox, president of Kardex Solutions Americas. “Powered by AI and computer vision, BinInductAI applies intelligent automation to a traditionally manual process, helping customers work faster and achieve greater consistency during implementation.”
Kardex said that BinInductAI transforms the bin induction process by replacing manual, operator-dependent verification with intelligent, AI-driven inspection. The company said that the platform standardizes verification for every bin ensures quality checks are thorough and consistent.
Before a bin enters the system, Kardex said that BinInductAI automatically identifies damaged or out-of-spec bins, preventing potential problems from affecting the AutoStore grid and reducing the risk of downstream disruptions. By automating what has traditionally been a manual process, the company said that BinInductAI reduces operator workload and minimizes the potential for human error during implementation.
The company said that this results in a more reliable and efficient induction process that helps improve system readiness and supports smoother AutoStore implementation, particularly during critical go-live and startup phases. Kardex said that BinInductAI is designed to handle high induction volumes and enable fast, repeatable and scalable verification. The company said that this makes quality assurance easier to maintain across even the largest deployments.
“We are proud of our growing portfolio of solutions that enhance the AutoStore ecosystem,” Fox added. “These innovations are supported by a strong team of industry experts, who provide customized collaboration and support to our customers throughout the lifecycle of their AutoStore system. From initial planning and implementation through go-live and ongoing optimization, we work with customers at all stage of their AutoStore journey.”
