ProMat 2025: Wandelbots demonstrates NOVA agnostic robot operating system

Wandelbots

The Wandelbots NOVA vendor-agnostic robot operating system made its U.S. debut at ProMat 2025 in Chicago.

Dresden, Germany-based automation software provider Wandelbots will present its NOVA agnostic robotic operating system for the first time in the U.S. at ProMat 2025 in Booth N6215

Wandelbots said that by eliminating vendor lock-in, simplifying programming and enabling AI-powered automation, NOVA is transforming how manufacturers and logistics providers deploy robotics.

The trade show is March 17-20 at the McCormick Place Convention Center in Chicago, Ill.

Software-driven robotics

With support for modern development tools like Python and JavaScript, Wandelbots said that NOVA makes automation accessible to everyone. It streamlines robot programming, deployment and scaling through AI-driven tools for planning, building and operating. Easy hardware integration allows cost-effective scaling across multiple robots and brands. Strategic collaborations with Microsoft and OpenAI also ensure continuous innovation through its AI capabilities.

“At Wandelbots, we believe automation should be easy, scalable, and future proof,” said Christian Piechnick, CEO of Wandelbots. “At ProMat 2025, we will show how our software-driven approach redefines industrial robotics.”

The company said NOVA can provide U.S. businesses with the tools to streamline operations, maximize efficiency, and future-proof automation strategies. It empowers companies to implement robotics without complexity or vendor lock-in and is redefining how U.S. businesses approach robotics and automation - making it smarter, faster, and more adaptable.

For supply chain executives, NOVA enables data-driven decision-making by predicting ROI before investment. Scenario-based feasibility studies ensure that automation projects are successful from the start. Additionally, the platform allows businesses to scale automation across diverse robot brands, eliminating dependency on a single vendor. AI-powered real-time insights further optimize overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), improving productivity and uptime.

Wandelbots added that logistics and warehouse managers benefit from NOVA’s Sim-to-Real technology, which accelerates deployment by 50% while eliminating costly errors. AI-driven robotic path planning enhances efficiency in sorting and fulfillment processes. Furthermore, NOVA supports retrofitting, allowing businesses to upgrade existing automation lines without disruption.

For manufacturing engineers, Wandelbots said that NOVA provides a future-proof automation framework. Robotic setups can be adapted without specialized expertise. Precision and scalability are enhanced by using digital twins, which validate automation feasibility before deployment. As a unified ecosystem, NOVA integrates with Microsoft, NVIDIA Isaac Sim, and automation vendors across various hardware peripherals, ensuring compatibility and long-term innovation.

ProMat demos and NOVA use cases

At ProMat 2025, Wandelbots Booth visitors can experience how the company said NOVA bridges the gap between simulation and reality. AI-powered digital twins predict ROI and reduce errors by up to 90%, ensuring automation success.

Companies like Volkswagen, 3M and SHL AG are already using Wandelbots NOVA to scale automation smarter and faster - demonstrating its real-world impact across industries.

During the show, Wandelbots will demonstrate why SHL are building the future of their sanding applications on NOVA, unlocking new levels of efficiency, precision, and scalability in industrial automation. This demo showcases an end-to-end agnostic automation and robotic platform approach that maximizes automation along the whole automation lifecycle:

  • First, it enables system integrators to plan, simulate and validate automation use cases with near-real digital twin experiences, enhanced by AI capabilities for precise and efficient system design.
  • Second, it bridges the gap between simulation and real-world deployment, transferring robot programs from virtual environments directly to the factory floor for rapid execution.
  • Third, it allows integrators to develop intuitive, end-user-friendly applications, ensuring that robotics are no longer limited to experts but accessible to operators of all skill levels.
