Rockwell Automation Inc. yesterday announced that it has made a strategic investment in READY Robotics, which it described as a pioneer in software-defined automation and a Rockwell Technology Partner. Rockwell said its investment will help READY Robotics continue to develop its ForgeOS platform, support integration with its own software, and accelerate adoption across the Rockwell ecosystem of systems integrators and technology and channel partners.
“We are excited to work with READY Robotics to help further simplify the use of diverse robotic systems in automation solutions for our customers,” said Matheus Bulho, vice president and general manager for production automation at Rockwell.
“Linking the intuitive ForgeOS software suite with Logix control, design, and emulation capabilities allows a broader range of businesses to implement these powerful tools and spend less time getting their systems up and running,” he said.
READY Robotics offers accessibility with ForgeOS
READY Robotics said ForgeOS is the industrial operating system for robots, helping manufacturers overcome obstacles with automation. The Columbus, Ohio-based company added that it provides intuitive interfaces for controlling robots and automating tasks, as well as educational resources to help transition workers into the world of automation.
ForgeOS enables operators to control and program the most popular brands of robots from a single interface with minimal training, said READY Robotics.
With Task Canvas, one of many ForgeOS Productivity Apps included with the platform, operators can quickly create new automation tasks with a no-code, flowchart-based interface, it asserted.
Rockwell Automation continues integration
Rockwell and READY Robotics have collaborated to integrate ForgeOS with Rockwell’s line of Logix controllers and design and simulation software. They said the combination will simplify robot integration and accelerate time-to-market of industrial automation deployments.
“Historically, automation has been hampered by software silos between robot vendors,” said Ben Gibbs, co-founder and CEO of READY Robotics.
“READY’s interface alleviates this issue, eases deployment, and enables automation where it might have been prohibitive before, especially in high-mix operations,” he said. “Our platform enables programming and control of over 3 million compatible robots deployed today.”
Rockwell Automation claimed that it is a global leader in industrial automation and digital transformation. The Milwaukee-based company employs about 26,000 people serving customers in more than 100 countries.
