Seegrid Begins Taking Pre-Orders for Palion Lift Truck AMR

Mobile robot maker Seegrid Corp. today announced that its newest autonomous lift truck, the Seegrid Palion Lift, is now available for pre-order.

The Pittsburgh-based company said manufacturing, e-commerce, and logistics companies have the opportunity to lock in priority access to the autonomous mobile robot (AMR). Initial customer shipments start in April, according to the company.

Equipped with the most advanced generation of Seegrid’s proprietary autonomy technology, Palion Lift is the company’s newest robot. The lift truck made its global debut this week with live demonstrations at MODEX, which claims to be the world’s largest manufacturing and supply chain trade event.

Palion Lift uses 3D vision, Seegrid IQ technology

The Palion Lift AMR brings together Seegrid’s 3D vision-based navigation technology with situational awareness capabilities.

The company added that the Seegrid IQ autonomy technology fuses data from cameras, lidar, and machine learning models to enable its autonomous forklift to move material safely, accurately, and reliably in complex and dynamic environments.

“Our highly-reliable and proven 3D vision-based navigation system is now augmented with additional sensing modalities to create the latest generation of Seegrid IQ,” said Todd Graves, chief technology officer at Seegrid. “This advances our perception, localization, planning, and safety systems -- increasing the human-like situational awareness and agility of our AMRs, a critical capability for the extremely demanding conditions in which they reliably operate every day.”

AMRs capable of transporting 3,500 lb.

With advanced Smart Path sensing capabilities and 360° safety coverage, Palion Lift automates the transport of material up to 3,500 lb. throughout customer operations. It can precisely and securely retrieve and place palletized goods at heights of up to 6 ft. for an end-to-end solution, claimed Seegrid.

The company said its Palion AMR fleet has driven 7 million autonomous miles in customer production environments without a single safety incident.

This week at MODEX in Atlanta, Palion Lift will demonstrate lane staging, table and conveyor picking and placing, and interaction with other Seegrid IQ-powered AMRs.

Visitors to Booth C7685 will also have opportunities to see how Seegrid’s Fleet Central enterprise software orchestrates material flow.
