Shaffer will be focusing on various topics, which includes the following: Applying concepts from SaaS beyond software Understanding limitations of current technology for customers Using machine learning and AI to expand hardware capabilities through data/software…
Hy-Tek Intralogistics last week said it has partnered with Hai Robotics to combine Hy-Tek's IntraOne enterprise logistics platform with Hai Robotics' automated storage and retrieval systems, or ASRS. The companies said their joint offering will help reduce customers' storage footprints, increase workflow efficiency, maximize picking efficiency, and improve daily order-fulfillment rates. “We are excited to start our partnership with Hai, an up-and-coming innovator for the G2P [goods-to-person] space,” said Zac Boehm, vice president of robotic solutions at Hy-Tek Intralogistics, in a release. “By formalizing our partnership, it allows Hy-Tek to add to its existing solutions with a technology that allows…
The Area Agency on Aging of Broward County, or AAABC, last week said it is working with Intuition Robotics to add the ElliQ intelligent care companion to its services to help older adults age in place. The agency has launched its online application to identify eligible people in Florida's Broward County who would benefit from the technology. “We have long recognized the significance of technology in keeping older adults connected and engaged with their communities,” said Charlotte Mather-Taylor, CEO of AAABC, in a press release. “As we continue to expand our range of tech-powered initiatives for seniors in Broward County,…
Autonomous aircraft software is designed to enable uncrewed aerial vehicles, or UAVs, to operate without the assistance of human pilots. The software often incorporates advanced algorithms for flight control, navigation, and obstacle avoidance, as well as sensors and other hardware that allow the aircraft to detect and respond to its surroundings. Different types of autonomous aircraft software are available, ranging from open-source solutions to proprietary platforms designed for specific industries or use cases. The growth of the drone software market is propelled by factors such as the increase in autonomy to reduce human errors, the adoption of artificial intelligence in…
Warehouses and distribution centers, or DCs, can make or break a supply chain. Within these facilities, efficient order-fulfillment operations can meet demand, satisfy customers, and adapt to anything ahead. On the other hand, inefficiencies lead to order delays, costly errors, and even bigger problems when unexpected disruptions arise. With so much on the line, it’s no surprise that nearly every company is looking for ways to make their warehouses and DCs run better and faster. But what may come as a surprise is the relatively low adoption rates for one of the best solutions out there: automation. Warehouse automation benefits…
Late last month, CoEvolution announced that its CO-PICK smart warehouse system delivered substantial increases in warehouse efficiency for Lotte Group, a South Korean Fortune 500 retailer. The company said it raised throughput at Lotte's facility by 30% more SKUs per day. Lotte Group is a leading retailer in South Korea, with a significant presence in retail, food, electronics, and confectionery. Having considered and researched multiple options, it selected CoEvolution to work on a project to automate its entire warehouse transferring operations using a multi-vendor robot fleet. CoEvolution said the CO-PICK system uses orchestration software to deliver highly efficient picking, order…

For a technology writer, spending a couple of days at the Automate show is like being a kid in a candy store. There are industrial robots, collaborative robot arms, autonomous mobile robots, and plenty of exhibitors with warehouse robotics solutions. The annual event—put on by the Association for Advancing Automation (A3)—has evolved to include solutions of value to multiple industries and processes. These days, it’s not just a show about industrial robots used to “make” or assemble goods in factories. There were many exhibitors offering materials handling solutions, ranging from palletizing, to order fulfillment of finished goods in warehouses. Just…
More robots are coming to help international travelers. ADR Ventures yesterday announced its initial investment in Ottonomy Inc., which has developed autonomous mobile robots for contactless deliveries. Ottonomy recently demonstrated a successful proof of concept during an accelerator program in the Innovation Hub at Rome's Fiumicino International Airport. “We are honored to continue to work with ADR Ventures and the Innovation Hub to further the impact and convenience in the airport environment using technology,” stated Ritukar Vijay, CEO of Ottonomy, in a press release. “ADR is truly committed to being a leader in innovation and bringing excellence and new experience…
OSARO announced today the launch of its new vision software designed for picking, depalletizing, kitting and other automated functions. OSARO SightWorks is now available to integrators and third-party logistics companies (3PLs) that design and build custom systems for fulfillment operations. The San Francisco-based company said SightWorks enables robots to see perceive, grasp, and perform tasks previously done solely by humans who work on busy and often dangerous e-commerce fulfillment stations. SightWorks is already being used by a number of integrators and robotic solution providers, including Robotica, Mission Design and Automation, IHI, LG CNS, and Innotech. “Systems integrators, 3PLs, and other…
