Faulhaber’s new SXR DC motors can be customized with front and rear shaft modifications, options for vacuum and temperature environments, and flexible electrical connections.
German motion control components provider Faulhaber recently introduced its new 1218 SXR and 1228 SXR DC motors. Designed for even greater flexibility and a wide range of applications, these models expand Faulhaber’s DC motor portfolio.
Faulhaber said its new SXR motors offer standard higher performance and a broader range of configuration options to meet the demands of modern miniature drive systems. They provide flexible voltage variants from 3V to 18V as well as different bearing configurations.
Additionally, the motors can be customized - from front and rear shaft modifications to options for vacuum and temperature environments. The electrical connections include flexible configuration options. The company also said optimized rotor balancing can ensure longevity and smooth operation.
At the core of the new SXR family is a hexagonal coil with a high copper filling factor and straight wiring. Faulhaber said this technology can deliver enhanced performance and efficiency compared to traditional pin coils. Additionally, a new magnet grade offers improved magnetic induction amplitude and temperature stability.
All components in the SXR series meet the European Union's Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directive.
Faulhaber said the main markets for its SXR motor line include high-tech industries that rely on quality, reliability, and a high power-to-volume ratio. These include sectors such as prosthetics, surgical tools, metrology, semiconductor processing, and automation systems.
The new SXR models are compatible with a wide range of Faulhaber component products, such as its new 14GPT planetary gearheads. They are diameter-compliant, high-performing, and compact, which the company said makes them ideal for applications requiring high precision and reliability.
