Geek+ says that its new Singapore office will enable it to better serve Southeast Asian logistics robotics demand.

GeekPlus Technology Co. today announced that it has opened a new office in Singapore that it said will facilitate the transition to "Logistics 4.0" in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). The company claimed that its expanded presence in Singapore will allow it to use the country’s vibrant technology community and strategic location to enhance regional expansion and accelerate the adoption of robotics automation in retail, e-commerce, apparel, and other key industries.

“As logistics is becoming one of the main challenges for enhanced competitiveness and cost control, we see many looking to automated solutions for the flexibility needed to grow and compete," said lvin Yap, sales director for Southeast Asia and India at Geek+. "AMRs [autonomous mobile robots] are at the core of Logistics 4.0. With full team support in Singapore, we will provide the most effective solutions that enable affordable, efficient, and safe logistics processes in warehousing and manufacturing.”

Founded in 2015, Geek+ said that it has 300 global customers and that it has sold more than 20,000 robots worldwide. The Beijing-based company has more than 1,500 employees and offices in Germany, the U.K., the U.S., Japan, and China.

Southeast Asian e-commerce grows

Southeast Asia has experienced rapid growth in e-commerce, according to Geek+. Many businesses are now setting up headquarters in Singapore to access global connectivity, advanced infrastructure, and the abundance of logistics companies active in the region, it added.

With the launch of its new office, Geek+ plans to enhance its service capabilities by tripling the number of employees based in Singapore. This will enable the robot vendor to boost sales operations, product development, project management, onsite implementation, technical services, and system maintenance.

“Geek+ has over 15 successful cases in ASEAN countries, covering a wide range of industries from apparel retail chain store, express services, and third-party logistics [3PL] to automotive," said Yap. "We support global brands such as Decathlon to replicate their successful smart warehouses with Geek+ AMRs around the world, including three automated warehouses in Asia. With our experienced team and technologies advantages, we aim to lead ASEAN countries to a logistics revolution.”

Geek+ focuses on product development

The opening follows the recent launch of Geek+'s Singapore innovation center, a facility dedicated to research and development for the international logistics market. At the innovation center, engineers and technicians have the tools to do simulations and tests, develop customized robots, and improve its algorithms.

The company said the facility reflects its commitment to providing innovations that meet customers’ needs and to continuously explore the possibilities of artificial intellience and robotics for logistics.

Geek+ said it is a leader of the smart logistics revolution, with a full range of products for picking and sorting, to moving materials. The company cited its new Tote-to-Person RoboShuttle.

In addition, Geek+ said its innovation and new office in Singapore will strengthen its capabilities as it promotes intelligent transformation and sustainability in global supply chains.

Geek+ recently opened an R&D center in Singapore.
