MODEX 2026: Kardex launches PortScale for enhanced AutoStore inventory accuracy

Kardex

Kardex highlighted the Intuitive Picking Assistant, alongside the PortScale and BinInductAI technologies, at MODEX 2026.

Intralogistics specialist Kardex announced the launch of the PortScale offering at MODEX 2026. The company also highlighted the new product at LogiMAT 2026 in Germany.

Designed to measure weight changes during picking and putaway processes, Kardex said that the high-precision PortScale seamlessly integrates with AutoStore, as well as Kardex’s Intuitive Picking Assistant (IPA).

The company said that PortScale improves inventory accuracy, instantly detects picking errors and accelerates warehouse workflows.

Real-time weight-based automation for AutoStore ports

PortScale is part of the Kardex AutoStore SmartWorkStation, an integrated workstation concept that combines technologies like Kardex IPA, barcode scanning, computer vision, data capturing for track & trace and weight-based verification to support accurate and efficient picking processes.

“We are proud to introduce PortScale as a new innovation within our AutoStore portfolio,” said Marco Pfendsack, director of technology, AS solutions business unit at Kardex. “By combining precise weight measurement with intelligent system integration, we enable real-time verification of inventory movements and create the foundation for more reliable and automated warehouse processes.”

PortScale uses multiple weight sensors to capture and process weight data in real time, which Kardex said provides exact weight, count and location information to the warehouse management system (WMS).

Kardex said that PortScale’s benefits include:

  • Immediate picking error detection
  • Real-time item counting for picking and replenishment
  • Support for cycle counting processes
  • Unintended double-pick detection
  • Improved SKU master data
  • Reduced shrinkage rates, and more.

Kardex said that the system is ideal for high-throughput warehouses where accuracy, speed and process reliability are critical.

Elevating AutoStore performance

MODEX 2026 visitors learned about Kardex’s expanding range of dedicated AutoStore innovations, including the Kardex ONE software-based ecosystem. The company said that the new platform, also launched in the U.S. at the show, enables easy integration of applications such as WMS, monitoring technologies and performance insights, to improve warehouse operations.

It was showcased alongside the BinInductAI intelligent bin induction offering, which Kardex said uses the power of AI to provide greater consistency, fewer manual steps and more uptime. Featuring AI-driven quality control for enhanced error detection, Kardex said that BinInductAI reduces the time to install an AutoStore by up to 30%.

“MODEX 2026 is the ideal platform to showcase how we continue to expand within the AutoStore ecosystem,” said Fred Fox, president, Kardex Solutions. “At Kardex, we are committed to continuous innovation, providing our customers with enhanced efficiency and scalable automation to grow their businesses. Our new PortScale solution enhances the Kardex AutoStore SmartWorkStation and Kardex IPA by providing improved inventory accuracy and accelerating warehouse workflows, while BinInductAI delivers effortless, consistent, and efficient operation. With dedicated AutoStore solutions, we further strengthen our position as a trusted partner for customers looking to optimize their automated warehouse operations.”
