NūMove released a new layer picking tool for depalletization processes.
Canada-based robotics and vision company NūMove introduced a newly designed layer picking tool engineered for enhanced adaptability and performance in high-throughput logistics environments.
The company said this improved robot tool enables efficient depalletizing of both single-SKU and rainbow pallets.
NūMove said this new depalletizing tool represents a significant advancement over its previous models that relied solely on suction and forks. To avoid product damage, NūMove said that sensors on the robot verify that the layer is properly lifted before the bottom forks are extended.
NūMove said that the combination of these mechanisms ensures reliable and secure operation across diverse product types, even at high speeds. The suction system is capable of picking partial layers and different layer arrangements that can have gaps, chimneys, etc. The clamping system is ideal for trayed items, while the bottom forks provide additional support to prevent product loss during rapid movements.

To further enhance layer picking precision, NūMove said that the tool can be paired with a vision system that enables the robot to accurately locate the layer’s position, even if the top products have shifted during handling.
In line with NūMove’s integrated approach to robotic cell development, the company said the users can add peripheral equipment to deliver a complete and optimized offering. For example, users can incorporate downstream conveyors to ensure that all products exit the cell short side leading and in a single-filed manner.
