Glossary: Delta Robot

A delta robot is a parallel robot with multiple lightweight arms connected to a common end-effector platform. Unlike a traditional articulated robot, the robot motors are typically mounted on a stationary frame, allowing the moving arms to remain relatively light.

Delta robots are known for their high speed and are frequently used for pick-and-place, sorting, packaging, inspection and food-processing applications.

Their combination of speed and precision makes delta robots useful in applications when large numbers of lightweight products must be rapidly picked and placed. The robot's workspace and payload are generally more limited than those of many articulated robots.
