Researchers led by Prof. Reymond Clavel developed the delta robot at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Switzerland for putting chocolates in wrappers, and Demaurex SA acquired the rights for commercialization in 1987. Other vendors subsequently produced similar robots.
