Glossary: Delta Robot

Delta Robot
Delta robots are a type of parallel arm robot that maintain the horizontal position of the end effector. They are known for their speed, particularly in pick-and-place applications.

Researchers led by Prof. Reymond Clavel developed the delta robot at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Switzerland for putting chocolates in wrappers, and Demaurex SA acquired the rights for commercialization in 1987. Other vendors subsequently produced similar robots.
