Norton Shores, MI – Rollon by Timken announces the launch of the new RTUg (Glide), a streamlined addition to the company’s modular Robot Transfer Unit portfolio. Designed to deliver dependable performance with simplified features, the RTUg provides system integrators and manufacturers with a practical, cost-efficient solution for robotic transfer applications in harsh industrial environments.

Built on the proven foundation of Rollon’s modular RTU platform, the RTUg combines the flexibility and scalability of Rollon’s 7th-axis technology with a more streamlined configuration focused on reliability, ease of maintenance, and reduced lead times. The new system expands Rollon’s RTU offering by addressing applications that require strong performance and durability without unnecessary complexity.

The “g” in RTUg stands for Glide, reflecting the system’s clean, efficient movement and simplified approach to robot transfer automation.

“The RTUg was developed to give customers a dependable modular transfer unit that delivers the core performance they need while helping reduce overall project cost and implementation time,” said Andrew Allendorf, Business President Rollon Americas. “It is ideal for applications where durability, straightforward integration, and serviceability are key priorities.”

Designed for mid-range robotic applications, the RTUg features a rigid steel structure optimized for industrial use, making it suitable for environments involving welding, manufacturing debris, and demanding operating conditions. The system maintains the modular philosophy Rollon RTUs are known for, allowing flexible configurations and future adaptability as production requirements evolve.

The RTUg is also available with an optional second carriage configuration designed to provide additional stability, load distribution, and tooling support for welding and other demanding automation environments. While particularly well suited for welding operations, the RTUg is intentionally designed as a versatile modular transfer unit for a broad range of industrial automation uses, including material handling, machine tending, assembly, and general manufacturing processes.

Key features of the RTUg include:

  • Modular design for integrators and end users
  • Optimized build process supporting 4-6 week lead times
  • Simplified maintenance access
  • Robust construction designed for harsh environments
  • Custom RAL paint finishes available

The RTUg supports payload capacities ranging from 30 kg up to 680 kg and is engineered to withstand demanding industrial automation environments while maintaining smooth and dependable motion performance.

As part of Rollon’s growing modular automation portfolio, the RTUg complements the company’s broader RTU family, which includes steel and aluminum transfer units engineered to extend robotic reach, improve productivity, and optimize factory floor utilization. Rollon RTUs are widely used across welding, material handling, machine tending, automotive, and general industrial automation applications.

Manufactured and supported in the U.S., the RTUg reinforces Rollon’s continued investment in modular automation solutions designed to help customers improve flexibility, scalability, and speed to market.
