For robots and other systems to gain more capabilities, developers need the right hardware and software stack to bring them to market. Advanced Micro Devices Inc., or AMD, this week announced a partner ecosystem for its Kria portfolio of adaptive system on modules, or SOMs.
The program is “designed to deliver production-grade, fully functional Kria SOM-based solutions that help customers get to market faster without the need for dedicated chip-design resources,” said the Santa Clara, Calif.-based company.
The new Kria ODM Partner Ecosystem is intended to provide users a “turnkey experience with a full software stack and application support backed by established partners with a track record of success,” AMD added.

AMD's partner program currently includes ODM (original design manufacturing) products including:
- IIoT Edge Gateway: The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) Gateway from Ectron Corp. allows developers to deploy edge analytics and advanced machine control. With it, they can “make the best out of big data from smart factories,” said AMD. The cloud-connected IIoT Gateway enables plug-and-play deployments with built-in wired and wireless connectivity.
- Industrial Smart Camera: Optomotive Mehatronika D.O.O. offers a programmable, high-speed, industrial camera for autonomous and inspection systems. Developers can add the camera for laser triangulation, motion capture, industrial process automation, industrial quality control, and more, said the company.
- Edge AI Appliance: This is an eight-channel edge artificial intelligence appliance using Kria K26 SOM + Kinara Ara-1 processors from VVDN Technologies Pvt. Ltd. It includes support for high-performance vision AI applications at a fraction of the cost and is suitable for smart city and retail applications, claimed AMD.
AMD said it has carefully vetted its industry partners. These systems initially target smart city, security, retail, IIoT, and machine vision applications.
Users can take advantage of the processing power and adaptability of AMD Kria SOMs in pre-built, deployment-ready platforms that can quickly be customized, branded, and taken to market, the company added.
AMD said its partner ecosystem includes both software and reprogrammable hardware for adaptive computing. Users can quickly add features over the air and optimize system performance according to each task’s needs for “unparalleled flexibility,” it claimed.
