Delta Drone announced today that it has entered a three-year partnership with L’Oréal to conduct the annual inventory of the cosmetics company's distribution center in Northern France.
Delta Drone will be deploying its COUNTBOT system at the facility, which consists of a robot, 14 high-resolution cameras, a mast that can reach 10 m (32 ft.), and a drone. The company said it has developed and tested the system in partnership with logistics group GEODIS and “guarantees the protection of goods and people.”
“A major ally in warehouse quality managment, COUNTBOT combines ground robot and aerial drone technologies to carry out fast, accurate and automated inventories,” reads an excerpt on Delta Drone's website.
Delta Drone focuses on security and warehouse management
Founded in 2011 and based in Dardilly, France Delta Drone said it develops a range of drone-based services and products aimed for the security and warehouse spaces. In addition to COUNTBOT, the company sells the security drones ISS SPOTTER Tethered and ISS SPOTTER Automatic, as well as the mobile video security trailer, SPOTTER BOT.
Additional services include “regulatory management, training drone pilots and solution operators, system design and production, including associated software, specific missions and data processing and archiving,” according to its LinkedIn page.
The company claims it is a recognized international player in civilian drones for professional use. To date, the company has raised €6.4 million ($6.7 million), according to Crunchbase.
“The entire operation will be completed in only two 6-hour sessions,” said Romain Cauvet, director of engineering for the GEODIS supply chain optimization line of business “The COUNTBOT enables us to provide an exhaustive snapshot of the stocks and to supply HD visuals should any discrepancy arise between the inventory and the WMS (Warehouse Management System). All parts of the operation are carried out without any interruption to activities in the center.”
Following early trials, Ludwig Cresson, flow manager at L’Oréal, said the company’s teams have seen an improvement.

With this new solution, our teams have seen an improvement in these inventory operations, which will generate considerable time savings,” Cresson said.
