GreyOrange Inc. today announced co-founder Akash Gupta as its new chief executive officer. Fellow co-founder and former CEO Samay Kohli will continue to serve the Roswell, Ga.-based company as a member of its board of directors.

“From launching our first robotics hardware in 2012 to becoming a global leader in software, robotics, and omnichannel retail management, I could not be prouder of our team’s decade of pioneering accomplishments,” stated Gupta. “Our expanding portfolio of AI-driven solutions enables our customers to solve their most critical challenges across their entire fulfillment network, from warehouses to retail stores and e-commerce.”

GreyOrange said that Gupta and Kohli have worked closely together since its inception over a decade ago. The provider of robotic fulfillment and inventory optimization software now counts Fortune 500 enterprises and fast-growing startups among its customers.

Prior to his appointment as CEO, Gupta held executive roles at GreyOrange, including chief technology officer and chief product officer. He also played a key role in developing the gStore omnichannel retail management system, according to the company.

Gupta and Kohli were "instrumental" in bringing the GreyMatter hardware-agnostic fulfillment platform to market, said GreyOrange. The software responds to customer orders and assigns jobs to specific robots -- from any vendor -- providing an "end-to-end orchestration and intelligence platform," it noted.

GreyOrange said its systems "offer a competitive advantage by increasing productivity, empowering growth and scale, mitigating labor challenges, and reducing risk and time to market while also creating better experiences for customers and employees."

GreyOrange board members look forward

“Akash’s appointment as CEO comes as GreyOrange continues to be a leader and innovator by offering cutting-edge software and robotic solutions that increase overall efficiency, productivity, and safety across multiple industries,” said Binny Bansal, a board member at GreyOrange. “Under Akash’s leadership, the company is well positioned to advance its growth trajectory.”

“Akash brings extensive leadership experience and a commitment to strong customer and employee relationships,” added Ajay Royan, founder of Mithril Capital and another GreyOrange board member.

“As a strong technical founder, Akash is uniquely positioned to advance the company to innovative success in the ongoing global transition to warehouse and retail automation," Royan said.

The GreyMatter fulfillment operating system continuously solves to drive optimal decisions, efficient orchestration, and rapid execution across the entire fulfillment operation–so you’re ready in real time for whatever the market has in store, according to GreyOrange.
