Company joins select group of integrators that will help integrate the robot into small parts assembly applications.

QComp Technologies has announced that it has been selected as an authorized integrator of ABB Robotics’ new YuMi dual-arm collaborative robot.

The company, which recently celebrated its 25th year anniversary as an automation integrator in the U.S. specializing in material handling automation solutions, will be one of a select few integrators that will help end users integrate the robot into their small parts assembly applications.

“We are very excited to be teaming up with ABB and their amazing YuMi robot which is the first truly collaborative dual-armed robot designed for a world in which humans and robots work together,“ said Tom Doyle, president of QComp Technologies. “YuMi will provide manufacturers with an inherently safe, extremely accurate, and flexible automated solution for small parts assembly.”

The YuMi robot was intentionally designed to resemble its human counterparts, featuring a compact, dual-arm body that requires no more space than a human workstation. The robot is the size of a human torso and features a built-in controller, 14-axis motion, 1500mm/second speed, 500mm reach, 500g payload, and standard tooling options. Its dual-arm capability allows the robot to multi-task processing two tasks at the same time. The robot also features a lead through programming capability allowing users to program the robot in seconds rather than hours.
