RightHand Robotics to Give RightPick 3 European Debut at LogiMAT 2022

RightHand plans to exhibit and demonstrate its system for the first time in Europe at LogiMAT in Stuttgart, Germany.

At LogiMAT 2022, attendees can interact with the RightPick 3 system as it demonstrates model-free picking of a range of items with its multi-function smart gripper that combines sensing, suction, and compliant fingers.

RightHand Robotics, whose RightPick 3 applies AI and a multifunction gripper to pick items without prior models, is expanding its European presence and exhibiting in Stuttgart.

European robotics users will have an opportunity to see firsthand how picking systems are getting smarter. RightHand Robotics Inc. today said it will debut at LogiMAT 2022 in Stuttgart, Germany. The Somerville, Mass.-based company will demonstrate its RightPick 3 system for automated order fulfillment.

“Our latest expansion and funding have accelerated plans for RightHand Robotics to be a leader in the European market,” said Roderik Ter Beek, regional manager for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) at RightHand. “We are excited to be exhibiting our RightPick 3 solution at LogiMAT this year.”

“Despite having production systems in Europe, we have not been able to showcase RightPick 3 in a public event due to COVID restrictions, so we are excited to see how new prospects and customers react to our latest generation,” he added. “We intend to be at LogiMAT and other European trade shows for years to come to connect with future customers and industry leaders.”

RightPick 3 designed to be integrator-friendly

A DARPA challenge-winning from the Harvard Biorobotics Lab, the Yale GRAB Lab, and MIT founded RightHand Robotics in 2015 to apply computer vision and machine learning to real-world grasping problems. The company said its data-driven, intelligent picking platform provides flexible and scalable automation for predictable order fulfillment.

RightHand said RightPick 3, its latest robotic piece-picking system, “enables retailers to rise up to the new realities of online commerce.” RightPick 3 has a modular, industrialized hardware design and well-defined software application programming interfaces (APIs), said the company. It is designed to be integrator-friendly and complies with international standards, RightHand said.

The company claimed that RightPick 3 picks faster and handles an even broader range of items than before, with features such as dense packing and damage-free item handling. RightHand added that its system can provide integrators with “industry-leading performance, reliability, and safety along with the flexibility and tools to jump-start automated piece-picking offerings with confidence and at scale.”

RightHand extends reach in Europe

Last year, RightHand Robotics established a physical presence in Europe with the opening of its RightPick Center Europe in Nürnberg, Germany, designed to enable customers to easily test the company’s item-handling system. Earlier this year, RightHand announced a $66 million Series C funding round to aid in its global expansion. It plans to hire 85 to 100 people.

In addition, the company recently launched its Partner Integrator Program for robotic piece-picking deployments alongside complementary technologies to address the growing demand for order fulfillment. RightHand recently announced charter members Element Logic, the world’s first and largest AutoStore partner, and Vanderlande, a global leader in warehouse automation.

Through partner collaborations, RightHand's customers include apo.com Group, a European online pharmacy. The company said it is actively developing its partner network.

Robotic picking on display at LogiMAT 2022

RightHand Robotics plans to conduct product demonstrations at Stand A61, Hall 7, at LogiMAT 2022 in the Messe Stuttgart convention center. The international trade show for intralogistics systems and process management, produced by EUROEXPO Messe- und Kongress-GmbH, will be held from May 31 to June 2.

At the event, attendees will have opportunities to interact with the RightPick 3 system as it demonstrates model-free picking of a range of items with its multi-function smart gripper that combines sensing, suction, and compliant fingers.

Attendees can also see the eOperator, Element Logic’s offering that enables automated handling of goods stored in AutoStore automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS) via the RightPick 3 core robotic picking technology and RightPick AI software.
