Robot fleet management is the software-based coordination of multiple robots operating within the same facility or environment.
A fleet-management system can assign missions, coordinate traffic, manage charging, monitor robot status, prioritize work and prevent robots from interfering with one another.
Fleet management is particularly important when dozens or hundreds of autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) operate simultaneously. Instead of treating each robot as an independent machine, fleet management software helps the system operate as a coordinated group.
Fleet management is generally narrower than a full orchestration platform, which can coordinate multiple types of robots, fixed automation, software systems and people.
