10 Ground Robots in Development and Testing for Military Applications

Milrem THeMIS supports Estonian troops in test

Last month, the Estonian Defense Forces Artillery Battalion carried out a live-fire exercise in which two THeMIS (Tracked Hybrid Modular Infantry System) robots from Estonia-based Milrem Robotics provided situational awareness, conducted casualty evacuation (CASEVAC), and provided support fire. The remote-controlled UGV launched a tethered drone, identified a target, and fired on a simulated enemy vehicle.

The U.S. Department of Defense and militaries around the world are working to improve the endurance, usability, and autonomy of ground robots for explosive ordnance removal and other tasks.
