U.S. Air Force to test Ghost Robotics quadruped

Speaking of robot dogs, the 325th Security Forces Squadron at Tyndall Air Force Base in Florida began testing quadruped robots from Ghost Robotics last fall. “These robot dogs will be used as a force multiplier for enhanced situational awareness by patrolling areas that aren’t desirable for human beings and vehicles.” stated Maj. Jordan Criss, the squadron commander. The special forces unit planned to drive the robots with virtual reality headsets.

The U.S. Department of Defense and militaries around the world are working to improve the endurance, usability, and autonomy of ground robots for explosive ordnance removal and other tasks.
