10 Materials Handling Robotics Takeaways From MODEX 2022

MODEX 2022 was another key robotics event, held in Atlanta in May. Resurgent crowds, incremental technology improvements, and bigger robots were among the trends we spotted.

A few attendees told us that they didn’t see many new systems, but after two years of pandemic absences, MODEX was still the first chance for many to see robots and meet colleagues in person.

The supply chain event also showed the aforementioned maturation of the mobile robot market. Automated storage and retrieval systems (ASRS) also made a strong showing.

In terms of exhibitors, robot vendors dominated MODEX, again heralding the burgeoning omnipresence of automation in that industry. There’s still plenty of room for growth, with several analysts estimating that as much as 70% of North American warehouses have yet to add any automation.
