Autodiscovery announced the release of its ROS2-compatible, humanoid robotic hand with 16 degrees of freedom, enabling reliable dexterity in humanoid and cobot based manipulations.

Autodiscovery, a Germany-UK-based company that specializes in the development of various robotic offerings, has announced its human-like HAND16 for dexterous manipulation in humanoid robots.

The company is currently working with select customers to optimize the final touches of the HAND16. A public release is planned for the end of Q1 2025.

HAND16 humanoid hand details

HAND16 was developed by Autodiscover’s Oxfordshire, UK-based team. It comes equipped with:

  • All 14 motors driving the fingers are integrated into the hand, making it compact and lightweight. The two wrist motors are external to the hand.
  • Wide range of communication options: Wifi, TTL, RS485, CAN
  • Wide Voltage input: 10-30V for easy integration with existing arms.

“We are very excited for the release of our HAND16,” said Aron Kisdi, founder of Autodiscovery. “It is a product years in the making, which we optimized through the years to have a dexterous and capable hand. Our ultimate goal is to get even closer to how a human hand works, perhaps we might even surpass that.”

The HAND16 integrates a strong metal skeleton with a smooth, tough casing while weighing around 600 grams. Autodiscovery says the HAND16 is compatible with the Unitree H1 and G1 humanoids and can be adjusted to fit other off-the-shelf arms. The company designed the hand to be used in industrial environments that require strength and precision.
