Following a successful audition in June 2025 for Season 20 of America’s Got Talent, Spot, the robot dog from Boston Dynamics, was eliminated during the Quarterfinals, Round 2 segment of AGT.

Before its elimination, five Spot robot dogs performed another choreographed dance routine, this time to the Beach Boys 1966 hit, “Good Vibrations.”

Spot danced to Queen’s “Don’t Stop Me Now” in its opening audition for AGT.

Boston Dynamics engineers and developers join Spot on stage

During the AGT judges’ comments from Mel B, Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel and Sofia Vergara, the five Spot robot dogs were joined by engineers and developers from Boston Dynamics.

The Spot robot is deployed in numerous locations and industries, but these specialized performances were the first of their kind. Boston Dynamics’ engineers and developers spent several weeks preparing for the routines, utilizing a specialized, proprietary software called Choreographer.

Following its initial audition, the company said that its performance on America’s Got Talent was to spread awareness to the general population about Spot. Thousands of Spot robot dogs are deployed, largely in industrial facilities or public safety settings, away from the public eye.

Spot performs equipment inspections, runs experiments in labs and handles more tasks, but the company said its AGT performance expands its visibility to the larger American public. And, Boston Dynamics said it demonstrates the advancements of robotics and AI.
