Epson to Unveil New High Performance SCARA Robots at The Assembly Show 2023

Epson Robots will demonstrate advanced solutions for high-end automated parts feeding into assembly operations.

Epson introduces a new line of SCARA robots.
An Epson technical presentation will review the fundamentals of assembly automation solutions, explain how its new SCARA robots optimize the assembly process, and provide insights for implementation.

The growing demand for automation across diverse manufacturing industries is leading end-users, buyers, and suppliers to seek advances in assembly technology, systems, and products that deliver peak performance. In response to the demand for high-end assembly automation, Epson will debut new high power density SCARA robots with Epson’s GYROPLUS® Technology.

These advanced robots combine a small form factor with high payload capabilities, from 4 to 20 kg and feature longer reach up to 1,000 mm. They are ideal for Cleanroom, ESD, and IP65 Washdown environments and applications. The new SCARA units feature ultra-high precision, flexibility, and integrated SafeSense technology to help maximize productivity for the most challenging applications.

At the Epson display booth, attendees will have the opportunity to experience live product demonstrations of Epson’s 6-axis robots, the IntelliFlex Parts Feeding System, and RC+® industrial automation development software, and why they are ideal solutions for the medical device, electronics and consumer packaged goods markets.

An Epson expert will also present a technical session on the company’s advancements in parts feeding with a review of current industry practice:

  • High-Performance Parts-Feeding Solution – Parts feeding is simplified with an integrated solution powered by Epson GX SCARA robots, IntelliFlex software, and Vision Guide. Featuring a single IntelliFlex 530 feeder, this demo will showcase effortless pick and place operation and ultimate flexibility of the system. The IntelliFlex lineup has four feeder sizes and can handle a variety of parts from 3 mm to 150 mm with optional anti-roll, anti-stick, and medical grade tray configurations.
  • In his presentation, “Introduction to Parts Feeding – Parts Singulation for Robot Automation,” Scott Marsic, group product manager, Epson Robots, will describe in detail the challenges of integrating parts feeding into assembly applications requiring part assembly. He will address concerns of both new and experienced automation professionals by reviewing the various feeder types available in the market and will guide participants through key considerations for implementation. His session will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 25 from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. CT in Theater #1.
  • Print and Apply Labeling – Epson will also exhibit two robotic full-color print-and-apply labeling solutions: One will feature a ColorWorks® CW-C6000P paired with an Epson VT6L 6-Axis robot and the other will feature a ColorWorks CW-C6000P paired with a General Data PAC5 applicator. These solutions offer label placement flexibility and precision and are ideal for product ID and package labeling. The VT6L All-in-One 6-Axis robot is available in Standard, Cleanroom and IP67 variations. It features a controller built into the base and can be wall, ceiling or table mounted.
  • Robot Programming Made Simple – Offering a powerful set of tools and features to redefine automation efficiency, Epson RC+ Industrial Automation Development Software allows all components to interface with one another in a single environment. This software is ideal for both novice and advanced users and makes learning programming language simple.
